Established in 1923, the Ingomar Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 was originally located at 800 West Ingomar Road—the building currently occupied by the Ingomar Beer Distributor. In the 1960s, the fire company constructed the building that still serves as the Main Station just next door to the beer distributor building, at 9695 Harmony Drive.
The Main Station houses Engine 1, Engine 2, and Rescue 1. It also has a multi-purpose room used as a classroom, training room, and meeting room, as well as a firefighters' lounge.
While the station has served the fire company well for over fifty years, the building itself is no longer adequate for the growing size of newer fire apparatus, increased demand for energy effeciency, and the utmost need for safety. Although some safety features have been added in recent years (including a traffic light pre-emption system for the intersection of West Ingomar Road and Harmony Drive), the current station no longer meets the needs of the fire company.
So Ingomar VFC is in the process of building a new station—informally named the Harmony Station—to resolve the deficiencies of the current building. You can learn more about our new fire station here!
